Having a construction waste management plan is integral to any and all building and construction plans. To be successful in this, waste management requirements and protocol should be clearly stated and defined in the beginning of the design process and be a topic of discussion throughout the construction process. You will also want to check-in with all your contractors and sub-contractors to make sure they understand these requirements.
Another important part of this plan is to track its progress. This should show how you plan to achieve your recycling rate such as: materials to be recycled or salvaged, cost estimates (i.e. disposal fees), any specific requirements, and how you communicate this with your team.
